Dear Cthulhu Jan 13 2014

Dear Cthulhu,

I thank you for your timely and vibrant response. The imagery, specifically the muted desert like tones, was quite emotive and well beautiful. I’m not quite sure why you chose to place my boss drinking a glass of beer in the midst of a swirling storm of glitter, I may need some help determining the meaning of that, BUT I do believe I get the gist.

Did you know Freud?

In my quest for a suitable sacrifice I came across, quite possibly the most audacious man alive, a pimp by trade (generally a fairly audacious group to begin with), who in the course of managing his business took it upon himself to prove what I’m sure was a very important point by stomping on the face of an unruly customer. Perhaps not the best customer service, I’d agree, and I’m sure would have alone led to a chilling effect on his regular sales but I digress… The audacious part of this story is not the stomping itself but what happens after. It would appear that this man would argue that he would not have stomped on the face of a customer if there had been a warning label on his shoes, I mean how one could possibly know that face stomping while wearing shoes could result in serious damage to the stompee?! I think this is a bold move…likely to cause plenty of heated debate…perhaps this man is someone you should carefully consider…

I will await further instruction.

Your humble minion,

O

What’s your learning style?

•January 9, 2014 • Comments Off on What’s your learning style?

I think my preferred learning style is reading a book (solo studying) but I’d guess that this is more stemming from being an introvert than it providing the best outcome. Interactive learning, in a class or group setting, also works well but has the negative of being energy draining. One-on-one is good for step by step instruction – a show me how you make that thing or fix that thing and then let me try – sort of deal. If given my choice I guess I’d have to say, leave me be and I’ll figure it out – books or web most likely.

Honestly though, I can’t say that any one style works better for me over any other, perhaps some styles lend themselves to a given skill or have greater impact on a specific end result. For example; I can NOT, for the life of me, bake a great pie. I’ve read recipes, watched shows, taken classes – all with only slight improvements and the end result is a truly mediocre pie but if you ask to make a cheesecake, I can take any recipe, familiar or not, and produce it perfectly each time. It’s completely puzzling to me.

January’s chill

Sharp, stinging, cold in my bones

Breathy brume in air

New Year’s renewed hope

Love, health, happiness, success

Change awaits us all

Winter time lovin’

Bodies close just to keep warm

Babies come in Fall

Will this be the year

To achieve my goals, my dreams,

Evolve into me

Mercurial you

Sweet smile, kind touch and that kiss…

Lovely, prickly you

Holidays are DONE!

More sparkly, gluttonous fun? NO!

Well, not ’til next year!

Dear Cthulhu – Jan 6 2014

•January 6, 2014 • Comments Off on Dear Cthulhu – Jan 6 2014

Dear Cthulhu,

I was watching television last week and came across another Freemason inspired tale of mystery. Naturally I thought of you, being the most excellent minion that I am, I wondered if you have ever considered the fear that the Freemasons inspire? I mean they’re smack dab at the heart of so many conspiracy theories. The only conspiring my grandfather did, as a Freemason, was how to make it out of the house to a meeting with a bottle of booze without my grandmother catching him but I digress… Something you should consider, I mean the power of a secret society, closely guarded secrets and rituals, fear and terror in the hearts of men, all good things to a potential overlord. Yes?

Well, another year has begun and with that all of this insane, change your life, be better, planning frenzy. Do you have resolutions? I bet if you do they’re far more interesting than adding more kale to your diet… World domination, perhaps? The ability to dream away for few more years? I’ve decided that as a resolution this year I will renew my focus on finding potential sacrifices for you. I’m going on the assumption that if find them suitable, for whatever reason, that you may too find them such. Hmmm here’s a sparkly candidate….

I look forward to your feedback on my efforts.

With a devoted heart,

O
