What’s your learning style?

I think my preferred learning style is reading a book (solo studying) but I’d guess that this is more stemming from being an introvert than it providing the best outcome. Interactive learning, in a class or group setting, also works well but has the negative of being energy draining. One-on-one is good for step by step instruction – a show me how you make that thing or fix that thing and then let me try – sort of deal. If given my choice I guess I’d have to say, leave me be and I’ll figure it out – books or web most likely.

Honestly though, I can’t say that any one style works better for me over any other, perhaps some styles lend themselves to a given skill or have greater impact on a specific end result. For example; I can NOT, for the life of me, bake a great pie. I’ve read recipes, watched shows, taken classes – all with only slight improvements and the end result is a truly mediocre pie but if you ask to make a cheesecake, I can take any recipe, familiar or not, and produce it perfectly each time. It’s completely puzzling to me.
