October 2014 Haiku

•October 15, 2014 • Comments Off on October 2014 Haiku

My musing on the joy that is October in Phoenix, in haiku form.

Fall begins; crisp air,

Leaves falling red and gold

In Phoenix?! Ha-ha!

Some days I wonder

Why people want to live here

OMG it’s under 100 degrees!

Hooray October!

Eat apples, pizza, moldy cheese

Read some Poetry.

Time ticks, flies away

Ten months gone by in flash

Only 99 days til Xmas

Every October

I’m so grateful that I am

Not living in New England!

Hmm but it’s 2014? And I received this yesterday…

Your name was selected by Mr Mark Zuckerberg the CEO of Facebook (Founder & amp Chief Executive Officer ). The promotion was made to make all Facebook users to benefit from the profit the company made while they use Facebook.

Uhh Zuckerberg wants to share profits of his publicly traded company? Are you sure? You have seen The Social Network, right?

Facebook is the first and ever largest means of meeting both old and new friends.

Ok, now that DOES sound like something Zuckerberg would say.

The promo was done to serve as a means of appreciation to visitors on our site and also to help people to fight off poverty and to maintain a good standard of living.

How admirable! Couldn’t you just donate some money to a poverty related charity?

October 2014 Playlist – Dream Koala, Jungle & Showtek

Odyssey – Dream Koala

This is just such a beautiful song. I bought this album shortly after it came out and listen to it all the time. Odyssey reminds me a bit of some more recent Radiohead; moody beat and a heartbreakingly delicate voice. Lots to love here. And the video fits it perfectly.

Chandelier – Sia

Confession, I dismissed this song initially just on the video airplay but something about it spoke to my inner 19 year old club kid. If you check out the lyrics you’ll get why.

How You Like Me Now? – Joker Remix – The Heavy

Can dubstep be sexy?! This HAS to be a regular tune in strip clubs; smooth, cocky, demanding, all that’s missing is the pole.

The Heat – Jungle

Funny that the first time I heard this song I imagined roller skating, which for the record I haven’t done in more than a decade, and then I saw the video… Weird yet awesome. No, I don’t have skills anywhere near that cool.

Not In Love –  Crystal Castles ft Robert Smith

I’m a huge fan of Crystal Castles, not so much of The Cure, BUT together they’ve made an awesome dance song.

Latch – Disclosure ft Sam Smith

The first time I heard this song I was in the car with a friend who immediately said “Of course you like this”, well obviously this is a genre I’m totally in to and I am a fan of love songs (who isn’t?!) so there ya go. Bonus points for the creepy stalker potential here.

Hearts On Fire – Cut Copy

This is a super old one (2008) but even after all this time, it still makes a regular appearance on workout playlists and when I’m feeling like a little dervish dancing in the living room.

History – Groove Armada ft Will Young

Best video of the entire playlist, super silly.

Timestretch – Bassnectar

You know you’ve picked a serious dubstep song when the official video is not a video at all. I’m not a huge dubstep fan but I do really like this one.

Not Exactly – deadmau5

Another old one and another without a video but still awesome.

Bring the Noise Remix – Public Enemy vs Benny Benassi

I don’t really need to explain this one do I?

Booyah – Showtek ft We Are Loud! & Sonny Wilson

Oh man, this is what would happen if dancehall and house had an EDM baby. It’s what exactly I would have heard in a club in the late 80’s remixed for now, which is impressive for a couple of young Dutch guys. Totally dig it!

Wifey Humor

A man wasn’t feeling well so he went to the doctor. After a lengthy examination, the doctor pulled his wife aside, and said,

“Your husband has a very sensitive heart. I am afraid he’s not going to make it, unless you treat him like a king, which means you are at his every beck and call, 24 hours a day and that he doesn’t have to do anything himself.”

On the way home the husband asked with a note of concern, “What did he say?”

“Well”, the lady responded, “he said it looks like you probably won’t make it.”
